The programme is designed to meet the increasing demand for professionals with top quality skills in the private sector as well as in international organizations and the public sector, in Sweden and all over the world.
A Master´s degree implies an additional step compared to the bachelor education in economics. It provides both deeper analytical training in general as well as opportunities to specialize and achieve practically useful skills. You have considerable opportunities to tailor the programme in accordance with your own choice, focusing on Development Economics, Environmental Economics, Health Economics, Historical Economics or Industrial Economics.
In a knowledge-based society, a bachelor´s degree is often not sufficient to compete for the most attractive jobs, and to have a Master´s degree is rapidly becoming a necessity. A recent study showed that the employment rate among students with an advanced undergraduate degree in Economics from Gothenburg was close to a 100 percent. The largest share works in the private sector, and many of them work abroad. Moreover, most of the graduates have advanced positions where they make use of the skills they achieved during their studies.
