The School received our first ‘’full accreditation’’ (5 year period) in November 2004. The decision to extend our accreditation period for another five years was announced in November 25, 2009, after completion of the re-accreditation proces.
The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) is an international system for quality assurance of higher education in the fields of business administration, economics and management. It is applied by EFMD (the European Foundation for Management Development) with a view to enhance the standard of education worldwide. EFMD is an independent, non-profit network organisation open to corporate members and universities alike. At present, our School is the only school in Sweden to have a five year accreditation term.
The purpose of the EQUIS accreditation is to provide the School with an internationally recognizable quality stamp. The School has through EQUIS obtained a tool for conducting continuous and systematic quality improvement work. The process covers the whole institution, rather than individual study programmes and covers a wide-ranging description of every aspect of the School, with more than one hundred quality aspects being examined. A high degree of internationalisation, close interaction with the corporate world and a strong research potential are essential elements.
Since July 2008, the former Dean of our School, Prof Rolf Wolff, is a member of the EQUIS Committee, which is composed of individuals with significant experience of management education. It supports and advises the EFMD and the EQUIS Director on the development, implementation and operation of the system. This includes advice on relevant policies, criteria and processes.
